It was spring of 2017 when I first picked up a camera. I was a mama of two young children, and I wanted to capture their sweet fleeting moments as they grew up. Little did I know that this hobby would soon turn into a passion and a well-established business. Something that was NO WHERE on my radar. Today, I want to share my story with you of how I started my photography journey and how it has transformed my life.
Before I started photography, I had a successful career in the hotel industry as a Sales and Events Coordinator. But everything changed in September 2017 when my husband passed away unexpectedly. Losing him was devastating and completely changed the trajectory of my life. I was unsure of what the future held for me, but I knew I needed to do something to heal myself.
As I became more passionate about photography, I realized that I wanted to turn my hobby into a career. So, I began taking on clients, offering my services for free at first to gain experience and build my portfolio. Looking back on those first shoots, I cringe at how far I’ve come. But at the time, I was just happy to be capturing memories for others.
Over the last six years, I’ve built my business from the ground up. It has been a challenging journey, but also the most rewarding. I’ve developed my own unique style, worked with amazing clients, and captured some of life’s most special moments. Starting from nothing, I’ve become a successful photographer, and that alone feels incredible.
Along the way, I’ve also developed a passion for teaching others. I love sharing my knowledge, tips, and tricks on social media and via my blog. Seeing others pick up a camera and find joy in capturing moments brings me so much happiness.
Photography has been a true gift in my life. It has helped me to heal from a terrible loss and given me a new purpose. Starting out as a hobby, it has turned into a thriving business and a passion that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. I hope that my story inspires you to follow your own creative passions, whatever they may be. Remember that a single moment captured with a camera can hold so much emotion and will without a doubt become a treasured memory for life.
